Chicago, Chicago

Alot of people love Chicago. Deep dish pizza, The Magnificent Mile, Water Tower Place, The Bean, Lake Michigan and Lollapalooza- what's not to love? But if you're not a fan of frigid winters, you might want to visit Chi-town only in the summer. Chicago can sure hit some record low temperatures and you better have a warm parka to wear if you're heading that way - especially right about now. But let's take a fond look back at Chicago in the summer.

On my previous visit to Chicago, I had walked The Magnificent Mile (a 13 block stretch of Lake Michigan waterfront) So this time we walked from Millennium Park to the Chicago River. We sat at an outdoor table and watched life unfold. Tour boats were cruising by, and there were kayakers and several bachelor/bachelorette parties on boats floating by, too. A very nice afternoon. Perfect weather. Great for picture taking. And relaxing. So dim the lights - start the slide show - and enjoy a little photo tour of Chicago's riverwalk in summertime!

Chicago, Chicago My Kind of Town! How about you - have you strolled Chicago's riverwalk? In winter? or summer?

    1. Thanks Ruth - and it's a very walkable city. Well, at least in the summer it is. Winter might be a little too cold for me!:)

  2. I never made it to Chicago last year during my trip to the States and it is one place I would love to visit! I watch all the Chicago TV shows (Fire/PD/Med) and it always looks freezing so it's lovely to see some pics of it during Summer! (which is when I am more than likely to visit... hehehe)

    1. I'm told the boat trips on the river are fantastic! We chose to do a boat ride on the lake with views of the city but next time I'm doing the river. I loved the riverwalk - in fact, I think it was my favorite part of Chicago. Thanks for visiting Jan!

    1. I was there in March and it was pretty and I don't want to give Chicago in winter a bad rap - it's worth visiting all year round - but for me, now that I'm older, I don't do well with the bitter cold and wind. Do visit anytime though as there's so much to Chicago! Oh, and they dye the river green in March for St. Patrick's Day which is fun, too!

    1. Thanks Corinne! And I hope you make it back - it's such a fun city. We were lucky to have a friend loan us his apartment for the weekend which is a block from an el station so it worked out fantastically. Wanna take my daughters now! They would love it!

  9. Love all the pictures! Can't wait for it to warm up - as a local Chicagoan I've been trying to visit more museums and check of some cosy spots and discovered tons of wonderful coffee shops that are perfect for blogging or just relaxing with a book. 11. I've never been to Chicago at all, but it looks beautiful! Those boats look like a lot of fun (although a bit sardiney!) and there's nothing like a riverside walk. Especially if there's pizza at the end of it!
