I've alluded to the fact that we've had some family medical problems going on over the past year. And this past weekend we moved my in-laws from one state to another. So there hasn't been alot of time for blog writing. I'm gonna take the easy way out this week and post some of my favorite photos. Some are old - some are current - some were taken with a point-n-shoot camera, some with an iphone and some with my regular camera. Some you've seen before and some you haven't. And some just haven't fit into a weekly post. So here ya go -

1. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Every Christmas the theaters in Myrtle Beach put on month long Christmas shows. I took my mom this past Christmas and we passed the Ripley's aquarium at night. I really liked the reflection and neon. And if you want to go to Myrtle Beach when it's not crowded, go in December. Hardly a soul around

2. Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
I was so surprised at how blue this iceberg, and others, were when we were cruising the Tracy Arm Fjord. The captain said we were lucky since the day was so overcast that it really made the blue stand out. The fjord was so incredibly beautiful. What a great day.

3. Cape Ann, Massachusetts
A lone paddler off the coast of Cape Ann on a dreary and grey day. We did a day trip from Boston to Manchester-by-the-Sea (where this was taken), Gloucester and Rockport. He sure was fighting the elements that day!

4. Folly Beach, South Carolina
This is your typical "under the pier" photo taken on a cloudy December day at Folly Beach, one of Charleston's beaches. Known as "The Edge of America", Folly is one of my favorite beaches - funky, small, and usually not crowded, it was deserted that afternoon.

5. Tokyo, Japan
Taken at Meiji Shrine in Tokyo, I'm not quite sure why I really like this photo. But I do. It might be because Meiji Shrine was one of my favorite places in Tokyo - to have this quiet, reverent sanctuary within one of the largest cities in the world was so amazing to me. Might be my favorite photo I took in Japan.

6. San Juan, Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is so photogenic. It's so colorful and such a mix of cultures that you can really go picture happy here. This is of Castillo San Felipe del Morro National Historic Park late on a Sunday afternoon after the bicycle ride around the island, La Vuelta, had concluded. There were so many families out flying kites and enjoying the park.

7.Las Vegas, Nevada
This isn't a pretty photo - or technically correct - just a candid. But as Mr. UR said "Hey, there must be an Elvis convention" I looked up and got this shot of the stragglers at the back of the group of Elvis impersonators. It was so "Vegas".

8. Windsor, Maine
A beautiful sunset on a lake in Maine where we rented a cabin and had a fun week of kayaking, sightseeing and just being together. It was a week of beautiful sunsets.

9. Lake Lure, North Carolina
Turtles on a log on a visit to Lake Lure. They were just enjoying some spring sunshine.

10. Edinburgh, Scotland
The Grassmarket in Edinburgh. One of my favorite cities and one of my favorite countries. That's all.

So I hope you've enjoyed this photo tour. I'll be back to the regularly scheduled blog posts next week.

Which photo is your favorite?

  2. I know what you mean about the worries of aging parents. I have been walking the same road. My favourite photo from your selection is Under the Peir and who can resist the lovely blue ice shot. Hope things ease up for you soon.

  3. What a great compilation. The one from Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska was my favorite. The colors look unreal, I can't imagine what it would be like to witness that in person.

    1. Thank you! And the colors in that photo looked just as unreal in person - especially that icy blue against the darkness of the water and trees in the background. Thanks for stopping by!
