Postcards from Southwestern Colorado
Southwestern Colorado is a ruggedly beautiful part of the state. It's not easy to get to but I think that leads to part of it's charm. It's got an unspoiled quality that you don't get in easy-to-reach places. We spent the better part of 5 days there last July visiting Telluride, Durango Silverton, The Million Dollar Highway, Mesa Verde National Park and Great Sand Dunes National Park. As a finishing note to that trip, here are some of my favorite photos - some you've seen and some you haven't. Hope you enjoy them!

The next to last and the red sky are my very favorites! One week on vacation, and another week accompanying hubby on one of his jobs. If I wouldn't live in California, I would live in Colorado!
ReplyDeleteIt is an exceptionally beautiful state! Thanks for visiting The Unpaved Road!
DeleteSo many beautiful photos! Looks like an area to have a phenomenal adventure. My favorite photo is the first one. Really like the angle and that turquoise water at the bottom. #TPThursday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth! And thanks for visiting The Unpaved Road!
DeleteMy favourite is the first photo looking down into the water. I admit the sunset is spectacular too! Looks like a great place to visit and the final photo makes me want to be walking along the track too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Jan!
DeleteThey're all gorgeous but my favorite has to be the first shot looking down the waterfall. Thanks for linking in to #wkendtravelinspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim! And thanks for the link-up!
DeletePlenty of great photos here. I like the photos of the top down view of the waterfall and the stacked rocks (but maybe that's because it's a common sight in NZ).
ReplyDeleteThanks Rhonda! And I like the one of the cairns also - it was a pleasant surprise when I happened upon them on my hike!
DeleteWould love to go to Colorado one day! Was just telling my husband about how beautiful it is in the winter (from pix I've seen)! Summer too, by the looks of it! Reminds me a bit of Montana! Thanks for linking up with #TheWeeklyPostcard!

DeleteThese photos are so inspiring, especially the view of the waterfall. I'd love to visit this rugged part of Colorado. #TheWeeklyPostcard
ReplyDeleteThank you! And thanks for visiting The Unpaved Road and the link-up!
DeleteGoodness sakes, it's hard to pick a favorite. I recognize some of the places from my own visit to SW Colorado many years ago, but I can't place all of them. Where is that waterfall? #WkendTravelInspiration
ReplyDeleteThanks Michele! And the waterfall is Box Canyon Falls right outside of Ouray on the Million Dollar Highway.
DeleteI've been to Colorado so many times, but only briefly to Telluride for a concert - it's definitely a place I want to revisit.

It's my son's favorite place in Colorado - as is so many people's - and he wanted us to see it. I'm so glad we went. Thanks for visiting, Leigh!
