Tour de Lakes Road Trip - The Tennessee River Valley( Part II)

Last week I highlighted our Tennessee River Valley Road Trip - where we went and where we stayed. This time I'm going to highlight our eating and drinking. Full disclosure: we brought a cooler full of food and both of our accommodations had sufficient kitchens to make a meal. During this challenging time, I wanted to be as responsible as possible while still trying to have a little getaway. So here is where we ate and drank on our Road Trip.

Angelo's at the Point, Dandridge, Tennessee
Angelo's is a "low key American eatery with lake views" located in Dandridge, Tennessee on Douglas Lake. We sat outside at the wrought iron tables and enjoyed the view of the lake. We had shrimp, salad and an adult beverage - sangria - while watching the boats go by. We had a rough night for service but other than that, I enjoyed my meal and experience.

Lakehouse Grill, Vonore, Tennessee
Lakehouse Grill is on Tellico Lake and it was conveniently only a few steps from our rental cabin at Sequoyah Landing. We enjoyed some good old pub food in this open air restaurant. If you bring the kids, they'll love the fish that you can feed!

Big River Grille & Brewing Works, Chattanooga
We made a stop in Chattanooga on our way from Eastern Tennessee to Georgia. Most of the restaurants had just started opening up for indoors dining and the city seemed completely empty. No problem finding parking downtown. It was a ghost town. We chose Big River Grill & Brewing Works for a beer and lunch. Mr. UR went with the wings - per usual - and I had some delicious sweet potato fries.

Five Wits Brewing Company, Chattanooga
Chattanooga has a co-op of sorts that features Slow Rise Pizza, R & D Test Kitchen, Chow Main and Five Wits Brewing. Currently they are limited to outdoor seating with the option of take-out and delivery. We sat outdoors and enjoyed a Five Wits beer in the deserted atmosphere of Chattanooga. The city had a really strange, end-of-the-world feeling going on. Quite eerie.

Lookout Winery, Chattanooga
Lookout Winery, outside of Chattanooga, specializes in Italian wine and wood fired pizzas. There is a covered balcony, covered deck and an open deck with water views of the Tennessee River. While the views are fantastic, I wasn't a fan of the Italian style wine. Though the appetizer we had was delicious. But if you'd like to enjoy some wine or pizza with a great view then give Lookout Winery a try.

Big Door Vineyards, White, Georgia
Big Door Vineyards is a picturesque winery with the vines set on a hill, a pond, gazebo, outdoor seating and of course, a big door. And the wine is pretty good, too. Located just east of Cartersville and north of Atlanta.

Qualusi Vineyards, Acworth, Georgia
Qualusi means grapes in Cherokee and Qualusi Vineyards serves red, white and sweet wines at their winery that is located at the back of a residential neighborhood. Their large barn can be booked for special events or for a tasting. I enjoyed a tasty mango wine slushie while sitting on the patio with vineyard views.

How about you? Have you been hunkering down? Or have you ventured out yet?

  1. These are some fabulous places with delicious looking food! For the record, we usually take food with us on trips, too, so we can stop when we want, not when we have to.

Your support for 'My Corner of the World' is much appreciated! Thanks for your link this week.
