Voyager of the Seas Part 3 St. Lucia

Our fourth stop on our Voyager of the Seas Southern Caribbean cruise was the island of St. Lucia. This Caribbean nations capital is Castries - where we docked - and its's known for its luxury resorts and the mountains called the Pitons. We signed up for an excursion to see these mountains and it did not disappoint. Come along while we cruise the coast of St. Lucia and see the stunning Pitons!

We walked from the cruise ship over to the catamaran and it looked like it was going to be a packed boat but it actually turned out fine with everyone having space and a place to sit. (We booked the excursion through Royal Caribbean so I have no idea of the name of the company they used) We were to sail along the coast and then stop for a swim on the way back. Which is exactly what we did!

Along the way we passed several resorts, some small fishing villages and the crew on the boat answered any questions that we had. It was all very relaxed and chill.

We passed these two guys floating on what looked to be a surfboard

Then we reached the Pitons! They are two mountainous volcanic spires - Petit Piton is 743 meters high( roughly 2400 feet) and Gros Piton is 798 meters high (approximately 2600 feet) They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and featured on St. Lucia's flag. They are, quite frankly, the symbol associated with St. Lucia. It was very cool to see them and I'm very pleased with our excursion - it was a good choice.

After our viewing of the Pitons, we sailed back along the coast. We stopped for a swim in a cove for about 30 minutes. The water was chilly but swimmable and the only thing that marred this stop was all the people trying to sell us things - even in the water!

I really enjoyed our day in St. Lucia and I'd love to go back and see more of the island - this time from land. Hopefully there will be a next time!

How about you? Have you been to St. Lucia?

  1. Voyager of the Seas is made in Turku, Finland. Being a Finn kinda makes me proud to say that.
